A hospital bag checklist you can pack without panic

Pack it before you need it (which is often early)
The hospital bag is the one bit of pregnancy prep that tends to happen in a rush — usually the moment something feels imminent, which is exactly when you don't want to be hunting for phone chargers. Packing it a few weeks ahead (many people aim for around 36 weeks, but earlier is fine) turns a scramble into a non-event.
This gives you the practical packing list — for you, for the birth, for after, and the baby's bits — so you can gather it calmly over a couple of weeks rather than at 3am. It's an organisational checklist, not medical guidance; your midwife can tell you anything specific your hospital wants you to bring. Just try it and pack ahead of the rush.
Many people have it ready by around 36 weeks, since babies don't always keep to the plan — but earlier is completely fine and takes the pressure off. Your midwife may suggest a timing based on your specifics.
What goes in a hospital bag?
Broadly: things for you (comfortable clothes, toiletries, snacks, chargers), things for the birth, things for afterwards, and essentials for the baby (clothes, nappies, a going-home outfit). Check anything your particular hospital asks you to bring.
